Interview by D. Matias The first season of Basketball Wives was a great success with all the drama these woman have had from groupies to stalkers. Now with another season airing this year we caught up with Evelyn Lozada, one of the stars of the show to talk to her to see what she has been up to since then, her dating status, what to expect in season 2, and more. So what is new in your life? I’m working on a new earring line that I’m super excited about!! Have opportunities been knocking at your door with the success of the show? Business at my store Dulce has picked up and my web-site www.dulceshoes.net has also had an increase in sales as well. The reason why I signed on to do the show was to promote my shoe store. How is business going for Dulce? Tell us how it is you were blessed with putting that together. Me and my partner Rebecca have always had a passion for shoes and fashion. We came up with this idea to open up a shoe store in Florida. We did our research and through hard work & determination we now have a successful shoe store that we love!! Is Dulce going to be a franchised chain in the near future? Do you have plans to broaden beyond women’s shoes? We hope and pray that we will be able to franchise Dulce in the future plus open up other locations in other cities.
We are coming to another season of Basketball Wives, are you excited about that? I am super excited for season 2!! All the ladies put so much into putting a great show together. We all try our best to be as real as possible so the viewers can relate to our lives/situations. How have people been treating you since the first season? People have been treating me great! Especially the women, they show me so much love when they see me out, etc… What are you looking forward to in this new season? More drama, less drama? In season 2 I get to show viewers my relationship with my daughter. I want to show viewers and especially young women with kids that you can still be a great parent even when your a young mother. There’s definitely going to be drama on the show! We had drama first week of filming! LOL Are you happy with how you were portrayed on the show? I have no complaints with how I was portrayed. Okay, the show is called Basketball Wives, where does this place Evelyn Lozada? VH1 named the show “Basketball Wives” that was out of our control. I was with him for 10 years and I sure put my time in! I didn’t need a piece of paper to define my relationship with Antoine. You were engaged once to Antoine Walker, what transpired with those plans not following through? When I was planning my wedding something just didn’t feel right. I knew in my heart I wasn’t doing the right thing, so I then decided to call it off. Are you dating now? Are you and Stefan still talking? Was he just a boy toy? I am happy to say that YES I am dating. Me and Stephan are cool friends! We speak from time to time.
What’s going on with you and Chad “Ocho Cinco” Johnson? I’m his “Ultimate Catch” LOL!! I see the entertainment industry is keeping you busy. Would you have your life any other way at this point? I wouldn’t change anything! I’m just going with the flow. What was life like growing up for you in New York? Growing up in NY was so much fun! So much culture and flavor! So happy that my mom gave birth to me there…LOL How does your daughter feel about your career on television? Is she a fan of the show? My daughter is a fan of the show! She thinks I’m crazy! LOL We have the greatest relationship. She’s so cool and down to earth. She doesn’t really comment too much. Is this something you would use as a stepping-stone to cover new ground in entertainment or do you have different plans all together after Basketball Wives? I’m definitely going to use the show as a stepping stone to further my career with my jewelery line and my shoe store.
How is your private life? Are you still having issues resolving the “nude photos” incident or was that finally put to rest? My life is not very private these days due to the shows success. It’s what you sign up for and I’m not complaining. Can’t comment on the nude pics due to the investigation. If you had your own show, what would it be about? Hmm, maybe about my store and shoes….*wink wink* You’re definitely on top of your shoe game obviously, are you the Queen of footwear for women? Or do you have some competition out there? I think I’m definitely on the top 5 when it comes to shoes.
